The Catholic Education Foundation of Los Angeles (CEF) has been providing tuition assistance to the most financially deserving students attending Catholic Elementary and High Schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for 35 years! The support of CEF makes a Catholic education accessible to students in need because it lays the foundation for academic achievement and develops values for family, community, and service. Since 1987 CEF has awarded over $225,000,000 in tuition assistance to thousands of students at over 207 schools.
Students that receive tuition awards qualify based on financial need – 115% of the Federal School Lunch Program. CEF started with their core program: Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) that provides $2,000 per student for High School and $1,000 per student for Elementary and Middle School. Other programs include the SOS program (for students that have special, high-risk circumstances), Big Yellow Bus Program (providing buses for field trips), New Enrollment Initiative (funding for students new to Catholic Schools), and many other programs.
“Catholic education is also evangelization: bearing witness to the joy of the Gospel and its power to renew our communities and provide hope and strength in facing wisely the challenges of the present time.”
– Pope Francis
